 | From the Early Childhood Division through the Upper School, Poly's arts programs enable students to explore the creative process and help them develop confidence as they express themselves through a variety of art forms.
Working with their teachers, who are professional artists in their fields, students are encouraged to find their creative niche and develop their talents. While yearly performances and arts festivals are the obvious manifestation of the arts programs, the arts faculty hopes to help all Poly students find their creative voices and come to know the challenges and joys of the artistic process.
Beginning in the Lower School, children work with their dance, drama, music, and visual art teachers to learn the language and fundamental skills required in each artistic discipline. In Middle School, all students take dance, drama, music, and visual arts classes in their arts core rotation.
Beginning in Grade 7 and continuing through the Upper School, students choose their arts classes from a variety of challenging electives, including Advanced Placement courses. There are also independent study options for students who wish to pursue a particular discipline beyond the scope of courses currently offered.
After school, many students continue to pursue their artistic interests through a wide range of clubs and activities. In addition to participating in the After-School Dance Program and theater productions—onstage and behind the scenes—students may elect to audition for vocal or instrumental ensembles or join the Ceramics Club.
