 | The Guidance Program at Poly provides for the academic, personal, and social well-being of each student. The program differs somewhat from form to form, but the
goals of the program are to help each student:
1. develop a clear sense of self
2. acknowledge his or her strengths and needs
3. accept responsibility for his or her own actions
4. recognize his or her community obligations and duties
5. reach his or her full potential
Students are encouraged to seek out teachers or coaches if they have personal or academic problems. In particular, deans and advisors will endeavor to provide students with advice or support.
The advisory system aims to provide a nurturing environment in which each student is well-known, valued, and recognized for his or her personal qualities and contribution.
In addition to one-on-one meetings with an advisor, when individual concerns can be discussed, small group meetings of the advisory are held to provide a forum for discussion of school-related and other issues. The advisor is a resource person who helps to provide support, as necessary, for each advisee. All students from Grade 5 through Form VI have a homeroom teacher or advisor. |
