Senior Leaders
Senior Leaders is a program in which Form VI students work with Form III students in small discussion groups organized by homeroom. The seniors meet with their group once a week. In the course seniors learn how to lead discussions, create and plan activities, do role-plays, and examine group dynamics. Seniors develop planning skills, self-confidence, greater sensitivity in relating to others, and an understanding of the decision making process.

Health Interns
The Health Intern Program is composed of twelve seniors (six males and six females) who are selected to be part of a peer mentoring program that focuses on health and community issues. The seniors are chosen after a rigorous application process. The interns work with students from Grades 5 and 6 on a variety of topics including: teamwork, friendships, fitness, nutrition, responsibility, body image, AIDS, first aid, and tobacco awareness. They also work on raising school-wide awareness about such health topics as breast cancer and AIDS through Chapels and school-wide events. Training focuses on group facilitation with younger students, four times a week, with the faculty advisor.

Peer Tutoring
Students in need of a homework helper or some tutorial support in a particular subject can be paired with an older student for a regular weekly meeting, schedule permitting.

Upper School students and some form two students serve as peer tutors on a strictly voluntary basis. Peer tutors are arranged by teacher recommendation in discussion with the form dean. The program is coordinated by the learning specialist and the Upper School Student Government.
Poly Testimonials

What can you learn from a two-day retreat? Not much, I thought; but after the ropes course, the wall climbing, the "spider web," and the group trust-building activities, I realized I had really gotten to know my classmates.
