Community Service
Appreciating one's community is an essential part of education. Community service promotes social responsibility, care for community, and volunteerism, all essential elements in the development of good character.

Students in Form IV are required to complete projects outside the school that provide some worthy service to people in need. Each project is conducted under the auspices of Poly's community service coordinator, who guides and monitors students. Forty hours of service are required, though many Poly students continue their service well beyond the minimum requirement.

Students in Form III must complete fifteen credits of in-school service during the year. (A credit is one full class period, or forty-five minutes of after-school service.) The goals of the program are: to give students an awareness of the school community and a sense of commitment and responsibility for the school; to help students reach beyond themselves in serving others in meaningful ways; to enhance students' self-esteem by helping them see that they are needed by the community.

Poly Testimonials

I developed a real sense of pride helping those who weren't as fortunate as I. Forty hours seemed like a lot when I started, but 250 hours into my service, I feel as if I've just begun to make a difference.
