| POLY FOSTERS ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE! Poly's Culture of Academic Achievement in Middle School & Upper School
Poly Prep's Middle School and Upper School both foster a culture where academic achievement is honored and celebrated. As part of the process of recognizing students who excel in the classroom and beyond, Poly offers students a wide-array of academic awards in the Middle School and Upper Schools to recognize and celebrate student achievement.
Poly also maintains two student honor societies. Membership in these societies is selective and confers great honor on those achieve it.

Given to the senior who has stood foremost in the school.
- THE JOSEPH DANA ALLEN AWARD
Presented in honor of Dr. Joseph Dana Allen and awarded for highest scholarship for the last two years of school, combined with character commensurate therewith.
- SCULL PLAQUE
Given to the senior who has excelled both in scholarship and athletics.
- WILLIAM M. WILLIAMS PRIZE FOR INTELLECTUAL CURIOSITY
Presented to that senior who has most clearly demonstrated a genuine pursuit of learning and enthusiasm for knowledge.
- CREATIVITY PRIZE
Awarded to that senior who has shown outstanding originality and imagination in a particular discipline.
- SCHOOL SERVICE AWARD
Presented to a senior for character, loyalty, service, and decorum.
- THE EMMETT GOLD ROUTT CUP
Presented to a senior who has shown great scholastic improvement in the senior year.
- MARJORIE BULL AWARD
Presented in honor of the one-time head of the Lower School to the student in Form II with outstanding academic achievement.
- MYRON RUCKSTULL SPORTMANSHIP AWARD
Presented to the Form II student who displays outstanding sportsmanship in his or her daily life at school.

Presented to the Grade 6 student(s) who is (or are) deemed outstanding in scholarship and character.

Presented to the Form I student(s) who has (or have) contributed most in academic performance, extra-curricular activities, and character.

Academic Awards- NEW ENGLAND SOCIETY BOOK AWARD
Presented to a Form VI student for excellence in the study of history.
- MAYFLOWER AWARD
Awarded to the student who writes the best research paper in American history. Presented by the Mayflower Society of America.
- MITCHELL PRIZE
Awarded to the senior who has demonstrated excellence in the study of literature and in writing. The winner is determined by vote of the English faculty.
- BROWN UNIVERSITY BOOK AWARD
Presented to an outstanding Form V student in English.
- THE GILBERT FELDMAN LATIN AWARDS
Awarded to one outstanding junior and one outstanding senior who have demonstrated extraordinary dedication in the learning of the language, literature, and culture, in and out of the classroom.
- SENIOR FRENCH AWARD
Awarded to the senior who has demonstrated excellence in the study of the French language and culture.
- FRENCH LANGUAGE AWARD
Awarded to an outstanding junior who has demonstrated extraordinary dedication in learning the language, literature, and culture, in and out of the classroom.
- PITKOW SPANISH MEDAL
Awarded to a senior for interest and excellence in Spanish.
- SPANISH LANGUAGE AWARD
Awarded to an outstanding junior who has demonstrated extraordinary dedication in the learning of the language, literature, and culture, in and out of the classroom.
- THE BAUSCH AND LOMB AWARD
Presented to an outstanding science student in the junior class.
- THE BAY RIDGE MEDICAL SOCIETY MEDAL
Presented to an outstanding biology student interested in a career in medicine.
- THE DOROTHY MILLER MEMORIAL AWARD
Honoring the mother of two Poly students, this award is presented annually to the student who presents the best independent study project in science.
- THE SANDRA STONE AWARD
Presented annually to a senior for excellence in science.
- THE NCTM/MAA MEDAL
Awarded annually to the student who scores the highest on the National Mathematics Tests. The award is sponsored by the National Council of Teachers of Math and the Mathematical Association of America.
- SENIOR MATH PRIZE
Awarded for excellence in mathematics.
- RENSSELAER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE MEDAL
Presented to the best Form V student in mathematics and science throughout his or her preparatory course.
- COMPUTER AWARD
Presented to the student who has demonstrated commitment and excellence in computer studies.
- DARTMOUTH BOOK AWARD
Presented to a Form V student who has demonstrated intellectual leadership and has made a positive contribution to the life of the school.
- HIRAM AUSTIN TUTTLE CUP
Presented to the most improved member of Form V.
- ABC PARENTS NATIVE AMERICAN HISTORY AWARD
Awarded to a student who presents the most original research paper on Native American contemporary issues.
