Tech Camp
For students 5–14 years old
Time: Full day (9:00 AM–3:00 PM)
Cost: $485 per session

Session I  August 2-6*
Session II  August 9-13
Session III  August 16–20

*no transportation available this week

Tech Camp's flexible curriculum primarily focuses on participants' areas of interest and enables students to register for as many weekly sessions as they like. We will ensure that each week students will reach the higher level of mastery in different applications and produce more sophisticated projects.

Lunch and Swimming
Participants can purchase lunch from our cafeteria Monday through Thursday. Friday is pizza day. All children are invited to participate. If you choose to send lunch, it should be in a durable lunch box containing a cold pack. Participants should also bring a bathing suit and towel if they plan to take part in daily swimming. Swimming is offered in our outdoor pool (depths of 2–3.5 feet), depending on weather conditions.

Tech Camp Staff
Maya Bentz, an Educational Coordinator at Poly, directs the Tech Club. Bentz has a doctor of education degree from Teachers College, Columbia University. She teaches Media Arts and Digital Design in Middle School, and is an advisor of Tech Squad, an after school club. Bentz has extensive knowledge of digital video, photography, 2D and 3D graphic design, web programming, and animation.

DAY BY DAY ACTIVITIES:

Day 1. Cartoon Adventures & Game Creation - Design and Program Your Own Games!
In this exciting class, students will draw and animate cartoon characters and backgrounds by learning about timeline and frames and by incorporating sound and special effects.

Day 2. Filmmaking & Special Effects - Become an Aspiring Filmmaker!

In this class, students will come up with their own story ideas, write a script, shoot a movie, edit the footage and burn it to a DVD. 

Day 3. Web Design - Become a Webmaster!
Explore the exciting world of web design and online multimedia! Students will learn to create interactive websites by writing HTML code, designing custom graphics, animating banners, and importing movie files. 

Day 4. Learn to Build Your Own Computer from Scratch
Students will learn about computer hardware and assemble computers.  
Day 5. Explore Virtual Worlds!
In this hands-on, fun-filled class, students will have their own avatars and explore different virtual worlds for kids. Students will learn to create, modify, and share 3D models.

We offer instructions on the hottest technologies from Adobe, Apple, Microsoft, Spore, X-Plain, Toon Boom Studio, Comic Life, Second Life Teen Grid, Google Sketchup, and Google Earth. Students will have access to digital video equipment, scanners, color laser printers, and DVD burners. Each session will conclude with the production of a DVD that includes all work work from the week.
