MS Musical

Join us for the Middle School musical, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, on Thursday, May 9 and Friday, May 10 at 7 PM in the Richard Perry Theatre.

Director's Note

Peanuts was a huge part of my life growing up. As a four and five-year-old child, I always scrambled into my father’s lap early on Sunday mornings to read the comic section of the paper together, and we always kept the Peanuts strip for the end: saving the best for last. My favorite things to watch on television as a kid were It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and Race For Your Life, Charlie Brown. This, of course, was back in the days before On Demand or DVR, when you actually had to rush home from trick-or-treating to make sure you didn’t miss the Great Pumpkin special on cable TV. The story of Charlie Brown and his friends always fascinated me. When I was 12, I received a copy of Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul for my birthday and I remember the story of “Sparky” being my favorite one. I am reprinting this short story by Earl Nightingale here, as he sums up the ironies of Charles Schultz’s success better than anyone ever could. I dedicate my work on this production to my belated father, and I dedicate this show to any kid out there who has ever thought of him or herself as a “loser.”
