These lectures have offered important scholarly moments for us, giving the teaching community a chance to think and reflect, as they listen and share colleagues' engagements with scholarship. This lecture was established more than thirty years ago by Headmaster emeritus, Bill Williams, with the support of alumni and friends, to honor Miles M. Kastendieck, a longtime Poly faculty member and Chair of the English Department.. The spirit of the lectures aims to foster a vibrant intellectual community by promoting research and engaging the community in the widest academic thought.
The requirement is to prepare and deliver a scholarly lecture to the extended community, including by invitation students, faculty, parents, and alumni. All members of the faculty in the Lower, Middle, and Upper divisions are eligible and encouraged to apply.
