Night (or Day) at the New Virtual Poly Museum

This week, Poly opened the doors to its first art exhibition in the Virtual Poly Museum. To kick off this amazing addition to our Arts program, Helena Elko P’35 curated a gallery of her Grade 7 and 8 students’ original works based on the famous covers of The New Yorker magazine.

Museums have historically been a place for social gathering and for the exchange of ideas about culture, politics and the different ways we see and imagine our worlds. Plans are in the works to add “wings” for upcoming curated exhibitions across divisions and feature different thematic projects and media to showcase what our students in Grades 5-12 have been documenting about their life in quarantine, reconsidering historical artists’ interpretations of their societies, and critiquing representations of contemporary life.

Big thank you to Charles Polizano P ’18 for all his work architecting and building our digital museum, and for Laura Coppola ’95’s leadership in taking on role of the “Virtual Museum Director.”
