Happy May. This is our last full month of school. It is another busy month, full of year-end deadlines and projects, but also celebrations and recognition. How does the year go so fast?
Volunteer Opportunities The PA is looking for Lower School Class Rep and Middle and Upper School Grade Rep volunteers. Being a rep is a great way to get to know other families in your child’s grade as well as getting to know teachers and administration. If you are interested, please email@example.com or reply to this email by May 20.
MS/US Parent Coffee: Supporting Your Student During Year-End Projects and Finals Thursday, May 9, 8:30 AM coffee, 9:00 AM speaker, Commons, Dyker Heights campus We’ve invited staff from the Learning Center to speak to parents about how they can help support MS and US students during year-end deadlines and tests. They will also share updates on Learning Center changes and new offerings beginning in Fall 2019.
Materials from Freedom from Chemical Dependency (FCD) Parent Talk The FCD parent meeting Tuesday night was incredibly compelling. The FCD educators are on campus all week working with the entire Middle School and 9th grade. Chemical dependency is a challenging (and scary) topic of conversation, but educators recommend starting by asking our students what they thought of their presentations in school. They also suggested we ask our children about a short film they were shown call “Nuggets” (link below). FCD comes to Poly every year to work with students, so if you missed them this year, they will be back and the PA will plan another event for parents. We’ve included links to all the materials shared at the meeting for your reference:
