Poly Recognized with U.S. Army Community Partnership Award

Poly Prep—the only high school in the group—was one of 10 organizations across America to win the U.S. Army’s Community Partnership Award.

Fort Hamilton is located right next to Poly’s Dyker campus, so creating a partnership around sharing athletic facilities was a win-win for both. Poly’s Middle School students made use of Fort Hamilton’s gym for basketball practice and their lacrosse field when their own spaces were occupied for varsity competitions. In exchange, Fort Hamilton’s service members were given access to the our Olympic-quality outdoor track as well as our indoor pool, saving them from the tangled web of costs and logistics they’d face if they had to build their own facilities.

Poly’s Head of Athletics, Rich Corso, accepted the award in the Hall of Heroes at the Pentagon. “This is exciting news for the Army and for our community partners” said Hon. Alex Beehler, Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations, Energy and Environment. “Our partners help us enhance readiness, create efficiencies and modernize our Army. We thank them for all they do.”
