“I enjoy connecting with faculty, staff, parents, and alumni to understand what their experience is or was at Poly and determine how we can work together for the betterment of our school.”
Opeyemi Laniyonu, Poly’s Director of Annual Giving, joined the Advancement Office in 2020. Opeyemi’s first job after his undergraduate program was as an Associate Director of Admission at the Maret School in Washington, D.C., an independent co-educational school of 650 K-12 students, primarily working with the Lower School admissions experience. He later moved to Georgetown University, where he served as the Assistant Director of Executive Education, overseeing the Executive MBA program at the McDonough School of Business, the largest revenue-generating program at the school. A resident of the D.C. metro area for most of his life, Opeyemi then embarked on a new role in New England as Director of Advancement for the Chestnut Hill School, in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, where he led the school’s development program.
Opeyemi is the eldest of five children born to first-generation Nigerian immigrants and spent his formative years in Rockville, Maryland. For him, education has always been a focus: “Growing up, recognizing and appreciating the power education can serve in our lives was everything to us. My siblings and I recognized the many sacrifices of our parents in leaving their home and coming to the United States for the betterment of our family.”
