  • ASSISTANT ENGINEER

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Engineer. We are in search for a positive minded team player with well rounded & basic construction related skills.

    START: Immediate – Spring 2021

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Conduct visual inspections of boilers, HVAC, electrical, plumbing and facility finishes.
    • Perform carpentry, light plumbing, light electrical and mechanical installations and repairs.
    • Assemble furniture and fixtures.
    • Disassemble, demolish and discard work area items.
    • Paint indoors and outdoors.
    • Maintain and organize shop and storage areas.
    • Setup tables, chairs, risers, etc. for events.
    • Perform general outdoor grounds work.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:  High school diploma

    Experience:  One year of experience in the building maintenance industry

  • FACULTY SUBSTITUTE TEACHER: MIDDLE AND UPPER SCHOOLS

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Faculty Substitute Teacher for our Middle and Upper School outdoor learning model, scheduled to run through Spring 2021. The Faculty Substitute will be hired on a daily basis as need be to help to maintain an organized, efficient, and productive work environment for our students in the absence of their regular teacher(s).   • ASSISTANT HEAD OF LOWER SCHOOL

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Head of Lower School to support the design, vision, and implementation of the Nursery through Grade 4 program.     PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Act as an educational leader of the division by maintaining congruency between the School’s mission statement, the division’s priorities, and all activities of the Lower School community.
    • Collaborate with the Head of Lower School to hire, develop, and evaluate faculty and grow a joyful, diverse, and exceptionally talented community of professionals committed to lifelong learning.

  • MIDDLE SCHOOL DEAN

    Poly Prep seeks a dynamic educator to join the Middle School Deans’ Office as Middle School Dean. The team includes three Middle School Deans; each Dean is responsible for the academic and social-emotional needs of approximately 115 students (grades 5-8). Middle School Deans are the primary contact for students and parents, helping advise them on course selection, co-curricular involvement, and all aspects of navigating life as a middle school student. Building authentic relationships is at the core of a Dean’s work at Poly–with students and their families, faculty and staff. Deans speak publicly in venues both small and large, write letters or recommendation, and are expected to engage fully in the life of the school.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Serve as the main point of contact regarding the academic and social-emotional wellbeing of students.
    • Provide guidance and discipline in accordance with the school’s Code of Conduct.
    • Meet regularly with the Head of Middle School, fellow Deans, Learning Specialists, School Counselors, and other relevant faculty and administration to monitor and develop a comprehensive understanding of student needs.
    • Manage class schedules and class placement, including distribution and course changes.

    • Attend and preside over grade level teacher team meetings aimed at providing necessary supports to middle school students.

FALL 2021 OPENINGS

  • JOURNALISM AND MEDIA STUDIES TEACHER

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Journalism and Media Studies Teacher. We are excited to introduce this position, intended to help our students prepare for a lifetime of communication in the “public square.” The Journalism and Media Studies teacher will teach two courses on journalism (including introductory and advanced or special topics in journalism) and guide students in the production of print, online, radio, and film media, including social media and our student publications (The Polygon and Polyglot), based on journalistic principles and best practices. In addition, the Journalism/Media Studies Teacher will educate students in responsible media production and provide them tools for interrogating misinformation and furthering social and racial justice through a variety of media platforms.

    START: Fall 2021

     

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    Teaching: 

    • Teach two courses in journalism
    • Return student work in a timely fashion and maintain an accurate and up-to-date online gradebook

  • MIDDLE AND UPPER SCHOOL COMPUTER SCIENCE TEACHER/ROBOTICS COACH

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Middle School Computer Science Teacher & Robotics Coach. We seek a teacher who can enthusiastically and adaptively contextualize computer science to solve real world problems through project-based learning, particularly robotics and design thinking. The ideal candidate will also prioritize recruiting and retaining students with diverse backgrounds who have previously been underrepresented in computer science. This candidate’s competence, integrity, and collegiality will enrich our school and Computer Science Department. Poly Prep’s Computer Science Department has continued to expand over the past few years and is looking to add a versatile, creative, and supportive teacher to its team. A strong desire to promote STEAM programs as well as help students discover and develop interests in technology is imperative.

  • MIDDLE AND UPPER SCHOOL LEARNING SPECIALIST

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Middle and Upper School Learning Specialist for the 2021-2022 academic year. The Middle and Upper School Learning Specialist is an integral member of the learning support department. Requirements include a Master’s Degree and a minimum of 2-4 years working in a learning support capacity. The ideal candidate will also have teaching experience as well as experience conducting professional development workshops. The position requires a passion for teaching and learning, enthusiasm for working with students, families and colleagues, flexibility and a sense of humor.     PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Work with students in grades 5-10 to provide support in small groups as well as individually;
    • Teach classes to help students in grades 6 through 8 learn essential executive function skills;
    • Teach and develop curricula for focused remedial classes to help those who need more structured supports;
    • Work in our Learning Center to provide help on a drop-in basis;
    • Collaborate with teachers to help meet the needs of all learners in the classroom;
    • Advise and mentor 8-12 middle school students throughout the year;
    • Participate in some extracurricular activity with the students, as a part of the country day model;
    • Communicate effectively and respectfully with students, faculty, staff, and parents;
    • Work collaboratively with others in the department to further the Learning Support Initiative.

    • Teach four sections of Upper School English (Grades 9-12)
    • Maintain an accurate electronic gradebook
    • Effectively and supportively communicate with students and families
    • Provide written and oral feedback on student progress consistently throughout the school year

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Advise a club or activity
    • Demonstrate energetic commitment to professional development
    • Attend and contribute to meetings during and after the school day, including but not limited to departmental, committee, divisional, and grade-level meetings
    • Accompany students on occasional curricular trips
    • Attend community events throughout the school year

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Comparative Literature, or a related discipline required. An MA or beyond, preferred.

    Experience: 3 years of teaching experience in secondary education.
