IMMEDIATE OPENINGS / FALL 2021

  • ADMISSIONS COUNSELOR (Seasonal)

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of ADMISSIONS COUNSELOR. The Admissions Counselor will conduct student and parent/guardian interviews as part of a positive and engaging admissions process. This position is seasonal from October 2021 through mid-January 2022.

    START: October 2021

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Represent Poly Prep to prospective students and families
    • Conduct student and parent/guardian interviews on campus and virtually
    • Write and submit interview evaluation forms
    • Attend and participate in admissions meetings as needed
    • Provide administrative support to the Admissions Department as needed
    • Attend admissions events as needed


    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:  Bachelor’s degree

    Experience:  2 years of prior experience working in education or related field with children and families preferred

    Specific Skills:  enthusiasm for sharing information about Poly Prep’s educational program and community, excellent interpersonal skills with children and adults, clear and effective written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and organization, proficiency in google suite, ability to maintain and respect confidentiality, commitment to building a diverse, equitable and inclusive school community.

  • ASSISTANT ENGINEER

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Engineer. We are in search for a positive minded team player with well rounded & basic construction related skills.

    START: Fall 2021

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Conduct visual inspections of boilers, HVAC, electrical, plumbing and facility finishes.
    • Perform carpentry, light plumbing, light electrical and mechanical installations and repairs.
    • Assemble furniture and fixtures.
    • Disassemble, demolish and discard work area items.
    • Paint indoors and outdoors.
    • Maintain and organize shop and storage areas.
    • Setup tables, chairs, risers, etc. for events.
    • Perform general outdoor grounds work.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:  High school diploma

    Experience:  One year of experience in the building maintenance industry

    Specific Skills:  Painting, carpentry, light electrical, light plumbing, knowledge of boilers and HVAC

    Certifications: Trade school certificate is a plus

    Special Requirements: NYS driver’s license

  • FACULTY SUBSTITUTE TEACHER: MIDDLE AND UPPER SCHOOLS

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Faculty Substitute Teacher for our Middle and Upper School outdoor learning model, scheduled to run through Spring 2021. The Faculty Substitute will be hired on a daily basis as need be to help to maintain an organized, efficient, and productive work environment for our students in the absence of their regular teacher(s). We seek candidates who are eager to engage students with patience, enthusiasm, and a sense of humor.

    START: Immediate – Fall 2021

     PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    Teaching: 

    • Support the academic program by covering classes in a teacher’s absence.
    • Supervise study hall periods.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Heads of Middle and Upper School and the Assistant Head of School for Academics.

    Additional Responsibilities: 

    • Help students transition and move from one activity to another.
    • Supervise lunch distribution as need be.

  • LOWER SCHOOL HEALTH ASSISTANT (Part-time)

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of part-time LOWER SCHOOL HEALTH ASSISTANT. The Lower School Health Assistant will work in collaboration with the Nursing and Health Team weekday morning to ensure infection control, social distancing and COVID safety protocols are enacted throughout the school day. The Health Team Member must exude warmth, patience, and compassion in their support of students in Nursery through Grade 4. This part-time position works 19-hours per week.

    START: Immediate – Fall 2021

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Greet students upon arrival and scan Ruvna QR codes to ensure successful completion of daily health screening
    • Participate in rapid COVID antigen testing of staff and students as needed
    • Ensure appropriate isolation at any time throughout the day when students or employees need to be separated because of COVID symptoms or a positive COVID test
    • Supervise students in isolation until they exit the school
    • Accompany students safely to the park, communicating with School Nurse and ensuring the team is able to meet all students’ health needs
    • Communicate professionally with all members of the community
    • Uphold safety protocols, including social distancing, mask wearing, and hand-washing
    • Assist nursing office as needed

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:  High School diploma

    Experience:  One year working with elementary-aged students

  • MIDDLE SCHOOL HISTORY TEACHER (Interim)

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Interim Middle School History Teacher. The ideal candidate will possess strong content knowledge of United States history; a passion for teaching this age group; commitment to professional development and ongoing learning; enthusiasm for working with students, families and colleagues; flexibility; and a sense of humor. We seek an individual who is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion, and whose personal integrity and collegiality will enrich a high-achieving, collaborative department. Graduate degree and a minimum of two years teaching experience preferred.

  • MIDDLE SCHOOL MUSIC TEACHER (Part-time / Leave Replacement)

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the part-time position of Middle School Music Leave Replacement Teacher. This is a leave replacement effective immediately-March 2021. The ideal candidate will possess a background in music education, proficient guitar, keyboard and vocal skills, and practical experience teaching a wide variety of musical styles to mixed-level classes. We seek a compassionate educator with a passion for engaging with students; strong communication and collaboration skills; and excellent organizational and time management skills.     PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Teach Kodály-based curriculum to 5th-grade general music classes
    • Teach basic guitar curriculum to 8th-grade general music classes
    • Direct/and or assist with 5th and 6th grade chorus, 7th and 8th grade chorus and high-school, pop a cappella group
    • Assist with the planning and preparation for the Winter Concert
    • Serve as a Middle School Advisor
    • Maintain accurate grades, effectively and supportively communicate with students and families, and provide written and oral feedback on student progress consistently throughout the school year
    • Attend and contribute to meetings during and after the school day, including but not limited to departmental, committee, divisional, and grade-level meetings

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:  Bachelor’s degree in music education, music performance, or related field

    Experience:  At least three years teaching experience

    Specific Skills:  Experience performing and teaching guitar, keyboard and voice

  • SECURITY OFFICER

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for a Security Officer position to join our dynamic Operations team. Full time position available with additional shifts, holiday coverage and shift flexibility as needed. Position entails conducting rounds throughout the facility including locker rooms. This position will report to the Director of Safety and Security.

    START: Immediate

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

     Position Requirements:

    • Must have NYS Security Guard License and pass a background check
    • Knowledge of basic methods of providing site security and safety
    • Ability to stand for long periods of time and work in adverse weather conditions
    • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
    • Proficient with teamwork and collaborating with colleagues and administration
    • Strong oral communication skills, human relations and interpersonal skills
    • Impeccable attendance and punctuality
    • Ability to operate detecting systems
    • Excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols
    • Knowledge of CCTV systems
    • Integrity and professionalism

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:  High School diploma or equivalent.

    Experience:  Prefer School related Security/Experience

    • F-03 (Fire Guard & Indoor Place of Assembly)
    • F-07 (Fire and Emergency Drill Conductor)
