  • ADVANCEMENT ASSOCIATE

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Advancement Associate. The purpose of this position is to assist the Advancement Office, which is the main fundraising arm of Poly Prep, with critical projects. Collaborate with colleagues in the Advancement Office to advance the mission and goals of the school. Support in the execution of creative programming, fundraising strategy, and community-building messaging.

    START: Summer 2023

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Coordinate the development of solicitation materials in association with the implementation of a robust annual giving calendar
    • Cultivate and build a parent volunteer solicitation team, strengthening outreach, and growing donor participation and dollars. This includes managing the preparation and distribution of training materials, class and assignment lists, progress reports, and communications
    • Evaluates opportunities to recruit, engage and steward parent volunteers and of other annual giving constituencies (grandparents, parents of alumni, etc.) and support their efforts
    • Collaborate with Advancement team members to integrate messaging and implement an engagement strategy that supports donor retention based on established annual goals. This necessitates consistent and cohesive messaging across social media, email, volunteer scripts, training materials, and website updates
    • Assist with outreach and solicitation of donors in alumni, parents, and parents of alumni constituency groups via phone and email
    • Organize Excel spreadsheets and export data for mailings, events, and for the tracking of fundraising results. Assist in Advancement mailings
    • Schedules meetings for the Director of Annual Giving and on occasion the Chief Advancement Officer
    • Order/organize office supplies and daily tasks of the Advancement office
    • Assist with gift processing in accordance with Poly Prep’s gift acceptance policies
    • Support in ensuring stewardship pieces are delivered on time
    • Preserve confidential matters and information; exercise discretion and sound judgment with respect to community members
    • Oversee negotiations with vendors and serve as the point person in annual giving events. Work closely with colleagues and vendors to confirm logistics and execution of annual giving materials and events such as preparing and setting up of events including but not limited to, printing and organizing event name tags, coordinating with caterers, floral arrangements, and party rentals
    • Prepares gifts/SWAG to distribute to donors
    • Staff evening and occasional weekend events and meetings as needed
    • Ability to work in a team as well as independently, take initiative, and adapt to changing situations appropriately
    • Foster a positive culture by being optimistic, flexible, and collaborative

  • ADVANCEMENT INTERN

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Advancement Intern. The purpose of this position is to assist the Advancement Office with projects. This work positively impacts alumni and community outreach along with funding for school initiatives, and will directly be involved in data entry, research, event organization, and donor stewardship. While the position focuses on administrative tasks and goals, the position is developmental and a great role for gaining office experience and specific skills related to fundraising and education administration.

    • Research and update Alumni contact information both in our fundraising database and within designated spreadsheets
    • Call and email alumni and other constituents to foster stewardship and relationships with our community

  • ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF LOWER SCHOOL ADMISSIONS

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Associate Director of Lower School Admissions. As an integral part of the admissions team, the candidate will communicate and represent the mission and values of Poly Prep to prospective families. The candidate should have strong communication and writing skills, attention to detail, work collaboratively with others and a passion to work with young children. The Associate Director of Lower School Admissions will be responsible for all admissions related events, outreach, interviews, decision recommendations and the parent ambassador program.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Planning and executing outreach (school visits, fairs, one-on-one meetings, inbound admissions related questions) with various stakeholders.
    • Organizing and executing all admissions related events (open houses, campus tours, revisit days, virtual and ancillary events).
    • Evaluate design and execute current application assessment practices.
    • Interviewing prospective students and their families and collaborating with faculty on student interviews.

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Choral Director and Music Programs Coordinator for the 2023-2024 school year.     • Teach three choral courses in both Middle and Upper School divisions. Responsible for lesson planning and curriculum development, timely grading practices, clear communication with parents, deans, division directors, and department chair about student progress, daily attendance, and coverage
    • Develop and steward innovative initiatives to ensure success of the music program
    • Develop diverse music curricula that ensures student growth and learning
    • Collaborate with division heads and departmental supervisors on program proposals, development, and staffing
    • Coordinate and lead curricular travel, including registration, reservations, on-site logistics, and supervision of students
    • Coordinate calendar, space, scheduling, and communications requests such as production programs, community invitations, poster design, etc.
    • Manage and oversee details for major music productions and events
    • Coordinate hiring, security clearances, and payment of musicians and guest artists
    • Work with the program coordinator to oversee the Poly Conservatory program

  • ENGINEER

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Engineer.  The Engineer works closely with the Associate Building Engineer and Building Engineer. Assists in maintaining the physical plant and is responsible for mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), painting, carpentry and grounds related tasks.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Collaborate with the engineering staff on interior and exterior projects.
    • Perform light mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry and painting projects.
    • Assemble furniture and fixtures; install hardware.
    • Perform light lock repair.
    • Set up tools and materials for various construction related tasks and projects.
    • Ensure that shop and storage areas have been adequately organized and maintained.
    • Assist in event setups such as audio transportation and connections when necessary.
    • Record and report repair and maintenance issues to the Building Engineer.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:  High School Diploma or Trade School Certificate.

    Experience:  Two years of building maintenance based experience.  Light mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry & painting experience required.  Experience with operating power tools, construction equipment & hand tools required.

    Specific Skills: Must be able to work independently. Must be able to understand and operate a Building Maintenance System. Should have moderate knowledge of painting, carpentry, light electrical, light plumbing, and boilers/HVAC. Intermediate computer skills necessary.

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Head Debate Coach for the 2023-2024 school year. We seek a talented and dynamic individual with a knowledge of modern argument trends in Public Forum and Lincoln Douglas debate who is committed to providing a joyful and equitable experience for our students during practices and tournaments and whose enthusiasm, integrity, and leadership will enrich our nationally successful debate program. The ideal candidate will exhibit a passion for engaging with students and the opportunity to join a nationally competitive program with avenues for growth; strong communication and collaboration skills; innovative argumentation development; and excellent organization, time management and supervision at tournaments.     PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Lead the national travel team on approximately 8-10 national tournaments per semester including chaperoning and on-site logistics while traveling, being conscientious of the varying needs of different students when traveling away from school and home
    • Run weekly team practices for the Upper School team and assist with the Middle School team practice, including case and block file development
    • Work with the Director of Debate and Forensics to coordinate and schedule the national travel team
    • Collaborate with the Director of Debate and Forensics and the Associate Director of Speech to develop and implement student recruitment initiatives and other team-wide events
    • Oversee assistant coaches and judges while traveling and ensure that school communication and behavioral standards are maintained
    • Initiate strategies for raising the program’s prominence on both our local and national circuit and help develop international partners
    • Communicate with parents and faculty in a timely and professional manner in adherence with the school’s communications expectations, including providing travel updates while traveling to tournaments
    • Submit monthly reconciliation of tournament expenses following proper guidelines
    • Compile and track team analytics and student results sheets

  • LOWER SCHOOL ASSISTANT FACILITIES TECHNICIAN

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Lower School Assistant Facilities Technician.  The Assistant Facilities Technician supports a wide variety of monitoring, practical and custodial duties to create and maintain a high level of function, safety, cleanliness, and efficiency for the school community.  This role will also assist with event set up, maintenance and upkeep of the mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) in and around the facility.  The Assistant Facilities Technician will perform work details, work independently and as part of a team.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Assists with and performs light mechanical, electrical, plumbing details and special setup related duties and tasks associated with the assigned designated area.
    • Performs all phases of housekeeping duties and tasks associated with the assigned designated area.
    • Performs required general tasks on a daily and routinely scheduled basis, including but not limited to:
      • Performs light repair of HVAC, electrical & plumbing systems.
      • Communication with vendors as instructed by the Senior Facilities Technician or as needed.
      • Vacuuming/sweeping, washing/scrubbing floors (including stairs) by mop and floor machine; dust mop floors; buff floors using a buffer machine; and operate carpet extractor.
      • Empty all waste receptacles, adhering to recycling and waste disposal guidelines; restock/replenish toilet tissue, towel and soap dispensers, and refill and maintain hand sanitizer stations; sweep all window screens, remove cobwebs, clean all windows/sills/coverings, clean chalkboards/whiteboards; and clean/sanitize all bathroom fixtures.
      • Clean/mop stairwells; sanitize specific classroom, bathroom, and common areas using appropriate chemicals/products and/or other cleaners.
      • Keeps the interior of the building and adjacent common areas clean and litter free.
      • Performs clean up and reset duties between student lunch periods.
    • Utilizes the necessary supplies and equipment to perform custodial tasks.
    • May perform or assist with snow removal activities and minor maintenance, such as replacing batteries and product, plunging toilets, or perform miscellaneous duties and emergency related cleaning as assigned.
    • Communicates with the Senior Facilities Technician and other facilities staff regarding daily occurrences and events.
    • Assists with the setup and breakdown of furniture for events, ensuring that proper configurations and arrangements are in accordance with requests.
    • Distributes and or assists with deliveries of mail and packages as needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:  High school diploma

    Experience:  Minimum of 2 years maintenance experience. Some knowledge of health & safety regulations as they relate to the operation of equipment and safe use of tools and products.

    Specific Skills: Must be able to work independently. Should have moderate knowledge of painting, carpentry, light electrical, light plumbing, and boilers/HVAC. Intermediate computer skills necessary. Strong communication skills. Must be able to multitask.

     Certifications: Trade School Certificate is a plus.

  • LOWER SCHOOL CLASSROOM ASSISTANT (Part-Time)

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of LOWER SCHOOL CLASSROOM ASSISTANT. The Classroom Assistant plays a vital role in Poly Prep’s Lower School as they facilitate positive student behavior and engagement while supervising and supporting groups of students during their onsite learning. Classroom Assistants must be on campus in order to perform their job. This part time position works Monday through Friday from 12:00 PM to 3:30 PM for the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year. The Classroom Assistant must exude warmth, patience, and compassion in their support of students in Kindergarten.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Greet students and create a welcoming learning environment
    • Assist with classroom supervision throughout the morning including arrival, lunch, recess, special subjects, class time, transitions, field trips, and trips to the park
    • Uphold safety protocols, including social distancing, mask wearing, and handwashing at all times
    • Support students at independent centers and choice time
    • Attend to students’ social and emotional needs as they arise

Lessons are held at Poly Prep’s Park Slope campus on select days between 3:30-5:30 PM.

    We seek people with a performance or pedagogy background and experience teaching students of all skill levels, grades 1-4.

    Please note this independent contractor position is not eligible for employee benefits.

    The pay is $50.00 per half-hour lesson.

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Mathematics Support Teacher for the 2023-2024 school year. This position requires knowledge of and practice in constructivist teaching methods, varied assessment methods and tools, and student-centered, interdisciplinary pedagogy.     • Provide mathematics support for students in Grades 7-11 in small groups and/or via individualized instruction
