  • ASSISTANT ENGINEER

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Engineer. We are in search for a positive minded team player with well rounded & basic construction related skills.

    START: Immediate – Spring/Summer 2021

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Conduct visual inspections of boilers, HVAC, electrical, plumbing and facility finishes.
    • Perform carpentry, light plumbing, light electrical and mechanical installations and repairs.
    • Assemble furniture and fixtures.
    • Disassemble, demolish and discard work area items.
    • Paint indoors and outdoors.
    • Maintain and organize shop and storage areas.
    • Setup tables, chairs, risers, etc. for events.
    • Perform general outdoor grounds work.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:  High school diploma

    Experience:  One year of experience in the building maintenance industry

    Specific Skills:  Painting, carpentry, light electrical, light plumbing, knowledge of boilers and HVAC

    Certifications: Trade school certificate is a plus

  • CAMPAIGN MANAGER

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Campaign Manager.  The Campaign Manager will support Poly Prep’s Head of School, Chief Advancement Officer, faculty, and Board members in their work on various capital campaign initiatives. Successful candidates will possess a solid understanding of fundraising for independent schools in an increasingly competitive environment.  She, he, or they will bring good organizational skills, discretion, poise and a “can do” attitude to every assignment. The candidate will be a collaborative colleague and a strategic self-starter who understands the importance and urgency of the task at hand.

    START: Immediate – Spring/Summer 2021

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Overall campaign management and organization including prospect pipelines, prospect tracking, strategy, task assignment and maintenance of timelines
    • Using standard research protocols, identify prospects and manage profiles for use by senior staff and high level volunteers
    • Scheduling meetings, preparing talking points, assembling presentations, and full meeting prep for Board members, campaign volunteers and Poly Prep staff
    • Overseeing acknowledgement of all campaign gifts and pledges and preparation of pledge payment reminders and pledge agreements
    • Organize and execute all high touch stewardship moves including recognition signage, events, and personalized “thank you” gifts
    • Write campaign correspondence including solicitation proposals, meeting requests, and meeting follow up
    • Maintaining master campaign calendar to maximize cultivation events and keep campaign committee on track
    • Organizing and monitoring volunteer assignments and follow-up, and assisting in all aspects of volunteer-led events
    • As with others in the department, this role will manage a small portfolio of prospective donors and may be assigned other duties as needed

  • FACULTY SUBSTITUTE TEACHER: MIDDLE AND UPPER SCHOOLS

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Faculty Substitute Teacher for our Middle and Upper School outdoor learning model, scheduled to run through Spring 2021. The Faculty Substitute will be hired on a daily basis as need be to help to maintain an organized, efficient, and productive work environment for our students in the absence of their regular teacher(s). We seek candidates who are eager to engage students with patience, enthusiasm, and a sense of humor.

  • SECURITY OFFICER

    Poly Prep seeks applicant for a Security Officer position to join our dynamic Operations team. Full time position available with additional shifts, holiday coverage and shift flexibility as needed. Position entails conducting rounds throughout the facility including locker rooms. This position will report to the Director of Safety and Security.

  • TECHNICAL SUPPORT SPECIALIST

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Technical Support Specialist.  The ideal candidate is someone seeking to learn and grow in the field of technology, and willing to collaborate with a strong team in a fast-paced environment.  A good sense of humor, strong problem-solving skills, and ability to think on one’s feet are essential to this position.  The Technical Support Specialist will work with a wide range of individuals in various roles throughout the school, and help ensure that our faculty, staff, and students have access to the tools they need.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Provide level one support for employee devices, as well as school and personally-owned student devices
    • Maintain inventory of parts and assets installed through classroom and office spaces
    • Manage and maintain the audio/visual components of the school’s major performance spaces
    • Assist event planning teams to establish technical support needs and work closely with those teams to run the events

  • ADMISSIONS COUNSELOR (Seasonal)

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of ADMISSIONS COUNSELOR. The Admissions Counselor will conduct student and parent/guardian interviews as part of a positive and engaging admissions process. This position is seasonal from October 2021 through mid-January 2022.

    • Represent Poly Prep to prospective students and families

  • MIDDLE SCHOOL COUNSELOR/PSYCHOLOGIST

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Middle School Counselor/Psychologist. The Middle School Counselor/Psychologist responds to the social, emotional and mental health needs of pre-teen students through providing culturally responsive, student centered individual or small group counseling, preventative mental health programming and crisis intervention. The MS Counselor collaborates with administrators, families and outside treatment providers around individual student needs, participates in division-wide planning and teaches course content related to their expertise as a mental health provider. The MS Counselor is committed to health equity and working creatively to reduce stigma and barriers around student access to mental health support.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Provide crisis intervention and trauma support to individual students; participate in planning division-wide response to crisis or traumatic events.
    • Lead small group counseling sessions to support students in developing healthy coping strategies to deal with the stresses of life (such as Banana Splits) or in response to crisis or traumatic events. 
    • Communicate with parents and outside treatment providers about mental health needs of individual students. 
    • Collaborate with administration, deans, learning specialists, teachers and the health team on individual student plans and on programming that supports the overall mental health of students. 
    • Teach social/emotional/mental health components of health curriculum  to Middle School students and assist with curriculum development.
    • Hosts talks and workshops about parenting, various mental health issues, and child development topics.
    • Maintain student records, including but not limited to, meeting notes, confidential records, support services documentation.
    • Collaborate to create systems to monitor mental health needs of Middle School students, track trends and monitor mental health outcomes with an attention to racial equity and eliminating disparities within our student population.
    • Support positive discipline and restorative justice processes as needed. 
    • Advise a student club as needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:  Graduate degree and license in psychology, social work or counseling

    Experience:  3 years prior experience. Demonstrated ability to work within a diverse population of 10-14 year-old students to administer culturally responsive and developmentally appropriate support. Experience with neuropsychological testing and children with learning differences. Previous experience in a school is a plus.

    Specific Skills:  Strong diagnostic and clinical skills. Excellent writing, verbal communication and listening skills. Exceptionally well-organized with proficiency using electronic medical records and excel/ google sheets. Positive attitude and ability to problem solve.  

    Certifications/Licenses:  LCSW, PhD or PsyD in school, counseling, or clinical psychology.

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of part-time Independent Contractor for Guitar Lessons at Poly Conservatory, our after-school lessons program, which aims to develop student’s technical skills, musicianship, and literacy in a fun and supportive environment. Lessons are held at Poly Prep’s Dyker Heights campus on select days between 3:30-6:00 PM.

    We seek people with a performance or pedagogy background and experience teaching students of all skill levels, grades 5-12.

    Please note, this part-time independent contractor position is not eligible for employee benefits.

  • UPPER SCHOOL COMPUTER SCIENCE TEACHER

    Poly Prep seeks experienced applicants for the position of Upper School Computer Science Teacher who are passionate about teaching computer science, recognizing its important intersections with other academic disciplines, society, and the world at large. This teacher will teach both introductory and advanced computer science courses. The introductory courses will help to forge computer science pathways for students by skillfully and enthusiastically introducing computer science to underclassmen and incorporating programming problem solving, and algorithmic and design thinking. Students will build a rich appreciation for and interest in the ubiquitous, real, and powerful applications computer science has in the world, for better and worse. The ideal candidate will also prioritize recruiting and retaining students with diverse backgrounds who have previously been underrepresented in computer science. This candidate’s competence, integrity, and collegiality will enrich our school and Computer Science Department.     PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    Teaching:

    • Teach introductory and advanced-level computer science courses to Upper School students
    • Run a US club, which meets once per week
    • Assist Robotics Coach/Team if needed
    • Keep accurate grades, effectively and supportively communicate with students and families, and provide written and oral feedback on student progress consistently throughout the school year

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Participate in the development of a revised N-12 curriculum featuring vertical and horizontal alignments
    • Assist students in shared computer and making spaces

    QUALIFICATIONS

    QUALIFICATIONS
