  • ASSISTANT HEAD OF LOWER SCHOOL

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Head of Lower School to support the design, vision, and implementation of the Nursery through Grade 4 program. The successful candidate will possess excellent knowledge of curriculum and instruction; expertise in adult development and inspiring others; a thirst for creativity and innovation; and enthusiasm for working with students, families, and colleagues.     PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Act as an educational leader of the division by maintaining congruency between the School’s mission statement, the division’s priorities, and all activities of the Lower School community.
    • Collaborate with the Head of Lower School to hire, develop, and evaluate faculty and grow a joyful, diverse, and exceptionally talented community of professionals committed to lifelong learning.
    • Supervise curriculum implementation and review in 1st through 4th grades, strengthening vertical alignment across the division and into Middle School, and ensuring curricula reflect school priorities, the school’s values of diversity, equity, and social justice, and 21st century skills.
    • Oversee the documentation, monitoring, and communication of student progress in Grades 1 through 4, collaborating with teachers, families, and specialists to do everything possible to ensure students meet or exceed Poly’s high expectations.
    • Maintain strong communication with all relevant stakeholders through appropriate records/documentation, notes and emails, presentations, and in-person discussions.
    • Help establish and monitor Lower School budget.
    • Ensure teachers can access the resources they need to create an inclusive and engaging 21st century learning environment.

    Education:  Master’s degree in Education Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field

     

    Experience:  6 years of teaching and teacher leadership in a Lower School setting

  • Handyman

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Handyman. We are in search for a positive minded team player with well rounded & basic construction related skills.

     

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Conduct visual inspections of boilers, HVAC, electrical, plumbing and facility finishes.
    • Perform carpentry, light plumbing, light electrical and mechanical installations and repairs.
    • Assemble furniture and fixtures.
    • Disassemble, demolish and discard work area items.
    • Paint indoors and outdoors.
    • Maintain and organize shop and storage areas.
    • Setup tables, chairs, risers, etc. for events.

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Middle and Upper School Visual Arts Teacher for the 2021-2022 academic year. This teaching position is intended to provide Middle and Upper School instruction in two or more of the following areas: architecture and design, graphic design, fashion/costume design, and/or drawing.     • Maintain strong communication with families, homeroom teachers, administration, and Learning Department colleagues, through written notes, documentation, and emails; calls; and in-person discussions.

    • Read and interpret the results of neuropsychological evaluations; synthesize information and provide a summary for faculty and administration; make recommendations about classroom modifications and testing accommodations.

  • MSUS COMPUTER SCIENCE TEACHER/ROBOTICS COACH

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Middle School Computer Science Teacher & Robotics Coach. We seek a teacher who can enthusiastically and adaptively contextualize computer science to solve real world problems through project-based learning, particularly robotics and design thinking. The ideal candidate will also prioritize recruiting and retaining students with diverse backgrounds who have previously been underrepresented in computer science. This candidate’s competence, integrity, and collegiality will enrich our school and Computer Science Department. Poly Prep’s Computer Science Department has continued to expand over the past few years and is looking to add a versatile, creative, and supportive teacher to its team. A strong desire to promote STEAM programs as well as help students discover and develop interests in technology is imperative.

    • Teach computer science courses to Middle and Upper School students
    • Form, organize, administer and coach a new after school competitive robotics program/team which will meet a minimum of three times per week

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Faculty Substitute Teacher for our Middle and Upper School outdoor learning model, scheduled to run from September through November, 2020. The Faculty Substitute will be hired on a daily basis as need be to help to maintain an organized, efficient, and productive work environment for our students in the absence of their regular teacher(s).   • MIDDLE SCHOOL/ UPPER SCHOOL LEARNING SPECIALIST

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Middle and Upper School Learning Specialist. The Middle and Upper School Learning Specialist is an integral member of the student support team and will collaborate with various constituents within the community in order to develop interventions and outcomes-driven student support plans while also contributing toward the design of exceptional curriculum and implementation of best-teaching practices. The ideal Learning Specialist will have a passion for teaching and learning, a proven track record of meeting the needs of a diverse set of learners, enthusiasm for working with adolescents and their families and an understanding of the discretion that this type of work compels familiarity with digital learning platforms, and flexibility.  This position may include both remote and in person work. This is an appointment for the 2021-2022 school year.

     

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Work with students to provide support in large or small groups, as well as individually.
    • Create and oversee the execution of student learning and accommodation plans with input from teachers as well as outside service professionals, including summarizing neuropsychological evaluations.
    • Develop and teach differentiated curricula designed to reinforce student learning and explicit skill development across a variety of content areas. 
    • Collaborate with teachers in designing curricula, classroom interventions, and assessments and regularly track student progress. 
    • Work in conjunction with all members of the student support team, including deans, division heads, psychologists, and school nurses, in ensuring student support and helping to ease transitions.
    • Maintain Learning Center office hours for student drop-ins, including after-school hours.
    • Prepare and curate workshops, special presentations, and resources for colleagues and families throughout the year.
    • Communicate effectively and respectfully with students, faculty, and outside service providers.
    • Attend community events throughout the school year and participate in extracurricular activities with the students, as a part of the country day school model.
