IMMEDIATE OPENINGS

  • SET DESIGNER

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Set Designer for the 2022 – 2023 school year productions. We seek a talented and energetic individual whose competence, integrity, and collegiality will enrich our first-rate Performing Arts Department. The ideal candidate will possess a professional background in theater design, be a proficient builder/carpenter, be able to work collaboratively and independently and have experience working with middle and upper school aged students.

    We seek a visionary designer with a passion for engaging with students; strong communication and collaboration skills; and excellent organizational and time management skills. In view of our commitment to anti-racism, diversity, and inclusion, we seek an individual whose creative vision is aligned with those values, who can serve as a role model for our students, and whose personal integrity and collegiality will enrich a high-achieving, collaborative department.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Provide preliminary set design sketches to production director and department supervisors at the start of each production rehearsal process
    • Attend and contribute to production meetings during or after the school day
    • Order and obtain all necessary materials for sets and props
    • Complete build of all scenic elements following production schedules
    • Supervise student tech crew during technical rehearsals and backstage during performances
    • Adhere to production budgets and proper guidelines for purchases, receipts, and reimbursements
    • Organize and maintain set and prop resources
    • Work with theater technical director and performing arts supervisors to maintain a professional environment
    • Attend and be available for some weekends, production tech weeks, and performances

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education: Bachelor’s degree in theater design, theater education, or related disciplines

    Experience: Three years professional or academic theater design experience

  • ASSISTANT FOOTBALL COACH (Part-Time)

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Football Coach. The Assistant Coach is responsible for, assisting, developing and maintaining an effective and competitive football program.  The retention of quality student-athletes in this program will be integral to this position.  The Assistant Coach is responsible for all aspects of the football program to include the ongoing development of the student-athletes.  The Assistant Coach will also be expected to demonstrate the ability to promote the physical, intellectual, and social growth of student-athletes.

    START: Immediate, Part-Time

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Providing instruction to athletes of all skill levels
    • Attending all practices and games which is a 5-6 day a week commitment, Monday-Friday are practices 3:30 PM – 5:50 PM
    • Supervising student-athletes while riding the bus
    • Communicating with athletes, parents/guardians
    • Taking attendance
    • Adhering to Poly Prep policies
    • Attending coaching meetings
    • Being a positive role model

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology

    Experience:  5 years of experience

    Specific Skills:  Coaching High School football skills

    Certifications:  CPR/First Aid and AED Certified, Safesport, CDC Heads Up Concussion in Youth Sports Certification

  • MIDDLE SCHOOL ASSISTANT (Part-Time)

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Middle School Assistant. The Middle School Assistant plays a vital role in Poly Prep’s Middle School division by facilitating positive student behavior and engagement while supervising and supporting groups of students during their learning and daily activities.

    Dates/Hours of Position: 

    • September 6, 2022 through June 15, 2023
    • 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday (when classes are in session)

    Rate of pay: $15-22/hour

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Supervise assigned group(s) of students throughout the day including during lunch, study hall, recess, and silent reading periods
    • Support students with technology needs
    • Attend to students’ social and emotional needs as they arise
    • Communicate professionally with all members of the community
    • Oversee the clean-up of lunch room space
    • Monitor recess for behavior and safety
    • Monitor student restroom requests to avoid crowding in school facilities
    • Observe students for health concerns and referring students in need to the health team
    • Collaborate with other Middle School Assistants as needed

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:  High school diploma and at least 2 years of college enrollment preferred.

    Experience:  Demonstrated interest and experience in working with children.

    Specific Skills: Facility with digital technology (Gmail, Google Drive, Zoom) and a capacity for learning more; flexibility and willingness to adapt.

  • MIDDLE SCHOOL SCIENCE TEACHER (Leave Replacement)

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Leave Replacement Middle School Science Teacher. Our Science Department, whose teaching practices are rooted in student-centered, lab-based, and inquiry-driven approaches, seeks an individual eager to share his/her/their passion and respect for science as a way to build scientific habits of mind. The ideal candidate will exhibit a love of learning and eagerness to engage with middle school students; an ability to forge creative connections among core ideas in science through inquiry; openness to and experience in the use of varied assessment methods and tools; and desire for generous collaboration with colleagues.

    This leave replacement is for the remainder of Fall 2022 semester (through late January 2023) with possible extension through end of Spring 2023 (late June 2023).

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    Teaching: 

    • Teach up to four sections of 6th Grade Science (“The Living World: Biology and Earth Systems”)
    • Work to support student learning on an individual basis, as needed
    • Develop daily lessons plans in collaboration with the teaching team, keep accurate grades, effectively and supportively communicate with students and families, and provide written and oral feedback on student progress throughout the school year

    Additional Responsibilities: 

    • Assume role as an advisor for a group of students (approximately 15 students)
    • Accompany students on occasional curricular trips
    • Demonstrate energetic commitment to professional development
    • Attend and contribute to meetings during and after the school day, including but not limited to departmental, committee, divisional and grade-level meetings
    • Attend community events throughout the school year

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:  Bachelor’s degree in science or science education or related discipline required.  Master’s degree preferred.

    Experience:  2+ years of Middle School teaching experience.

  • SECURITY OFFICER

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for a Security Officer position to join our dynamic Operations team. Full time position available with additional shifts, holiday coverage and shift flexibility as needed. Position entails conducting rounds throughout the facility including locker rooms. This position will report to the Director of Safety and Security.

    START: Immediate

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

     Position Requirements:

    • Must have NYS Security Guard License and pass a background check
    • Knowledge of basic methods of providing site security and safety
    • Ability to stand for long periods of time and work in adverse weather conditions
    • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
    • Proficient with teamwork and collaborating with colleagues and administration
    • Strong oral communication skills, human relations and interpersonal skills
    • Impeccable attendance and punctuality
    • Ability to operate detecting systems
    • Excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols
    • Knowledge of CCTV systems
    • Integrity and professionalism

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:  High School diploma or equivalent.

    Experience:  Prefer School related Security/Experience

    Certifications & Preferred licenses:

    • Fire Guard License F-01
    • F-03 (Fire Guard & Indoor Place of Assembly)
    • F-07 (Fire and Emergency Drill Conductor)
