Staff Employment
  • DIRECTOR OF MAJOR GIFTS

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Director of Major Gifts. The Director of Major Gifts will lead and develop a comprehensive plan to cultivate and solicit prospects with the ability to make $50,000+ gifts to Poly Prep for its capital campaign. The Director of Major Gifts will manage a portfolio of 100 prospects, and conduct portfolio evaluation and prioritization for all frontline fundraisers. This position will report to the Chief Advancement Officer and work closely with the entire Advancement team. The Director of Major Gifts will oversee prospect and data management for the major gifts and meet regularly with the Head of School and Chief Advancement Officer. 

     

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Manage a personal portfolio of approximately 100 major gifts prospects, which may include alumni, current parents, parents of alumni, and grandparents
    • Conduct regular prospect visits relating to discovery, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship with the goal of securing major gifts of $50,000 or more to Poly Prep
    • Evaluate the portfolios of the Director of Alumni Relations, the Director of Parent and Family Relations, and the Director of Annual Giving including check-ins to discuss, strategize, and optimize prospect lists
    • Establish metrics to help frontline fundraisers achieve goals and timetables and set appropriate strategies for prospect progress and success
    • Partner with Communications to ensure website and collateral effectively highlight major gifts priorities
    • Collaborate with the Chief Advancement Officer to ensure the pipeline of major gifts prospects remains active for new assignments and stewardship activities are adequate for major gifts 
    • Collaborate with the Director of Alumni Relations in the selection of key Reunion major gifts volunteers, identification of key Reunion major gifts prospects, and individual class goal setting
    • Personally lead one or more major gift Reunion class effort(s) and evaluate Reunion major gifts efforts

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:  Bachelor’s degree   

    Experience: minimum 5 + years of related advancement leadership and major gifts work

  • DIRECTOR OF DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION

  • LOWER SCHOOL NURSE

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of School Nurse – Lower School. The hours of this position will be Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. For the right candidate, we could also consider part-time schedules.      

    The School Nurse manages the health office to ensure optimum health and safety of students by providing immediate medical care and accurate management of medication and information to maximize health and wellness in the school community. In addition, this role will provide wellness support through individual education and resource development for students, employees, and parents.   

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Provide both emergency and preventative medical care for all persons at the Park Slope campus, including necessary follow-up arrangements and health screening.  Maintain first aid equipment to be used in classrooms and field trips, as well as specialty first aid equipment such as EpiPens. 
    • Design, implement, and monitor procedures for the safe storage and administration of student medication for those with chronic physical concerns or conditions and medication for general dispensing in line with health regulations.  
    • Maintain accurate student health records in a confidential manner in order to provide health reports and statistical analysis, and for monitoring students with health problems or concerns.  Also responsible for completing confidential employee health injury records.  
    • Develop, implement, evaluate, and maintain school health policies in order to protect the health and safety of students and staff and to bring into line with New York laws and health mandates. 
    • Develop and, where appropriate, facilitate a health and wellness program for students/parents/employees including personal health awareness, health and safety practices in the classroom, and first aid/CPR training.  Act as a resource for teachers to enrich and reinforce information in health classes. 
    • In case of a crisis, provide necessary direction to administrators to ensure the situation is managed in a manner that will optimize the health, safety, and well-being of the Poly Prep community, is in line with government guidelines, and minimizes anxiety. 
    • Coordinate health requirements for school trips, including collating student health information and providing required equipment.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:  Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing degree preferred.

    Experience:  Minimum of five years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in schools or as a pediatric or emergency room nurse. 

    Specific Skills:  High-level interpersonal skills, including the ability to relate to students from Nursery (three years old) through Grade 4, staff, faculty, and parents coupled with solid written and verbal communication skills. 

    Demonstrated organizational and crisis management skills, with the ability to multitask and remain calm in a high-pressure environment. 

    Solid health assessment skills with the ability to intervene appropriately in emergency circumstances and drive change in health programs to continually meet the needs of students and staff. 

    Ability to coordinate and facilitate services between the school, local health agencies, and other community resources.  

    Understanding and maintaining confidentiality and implementing this within the school health office. 

    Certifications/Licenses:  Registered Professional Nurse, CPR/First Aid/AED

  • LOWER SCHOOL LEARNING SPECIALIST

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Lower School Learning Specialist to provide learning support and enrichment to meet the academic and social-emotional needs of students in Kindergarten through Grade 4. The successful candidate will possess excellent content knowledge; expertise in intervention and enrichment strategies for mathematics and literacy; a passion for teaching and learning; creativity and a thirst for innovation; enthusiasm for working with students, families, and colleagues; a growth mindset; and a sense of humor.     PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    Teaching: 

    • Teach students in K-4 to establish foundational math or literacy skills and extend learning in small groups, large groups, and/or 1:1 formats as appropriate.

  • LOWER SCHOOL ASSOCIATE TEACHER

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the openings of Elementary Associate Teacher. This list is meant to highlight the important responsibilities inherent in teaching at Poly Prep Lower School. It does not, however, represent 100% of what teachers do on a day-to-day basis. Other tasks arise and teachers are expected to fulfill all duties to the highest standards of competence, skill, and efficiency. Ideal candidates will hold a bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in education.


    Teaching Responsibilities

    • Work closely with Head Teacher to teach core subjects related to the age/grade assigned
    • Help assess student progress and maintain records; assist in the writing of reports; attend parent/teacher conferences–lead some conferences as experience and need dictate–to be determined in conjunction with head teacher and Director of the Associates Program
    • Participate in weekly grade-level planning meetings
    • With Head Teacher, update curriculum outlines to reflect changes
    • Accompany students to special subject classes as needed
    • Attend Student Support Group meetings
    • After consulting with Head Teacher, communicate additionally with families about student performance when needed
    • Administer ERBs or other standardized tests as determined by the administration and teaching team
    • Participate in all class field trips
    • Be able to lift forty pounds, assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children, see and hear well enough to keep children safe, and engage in physical activity with children

  • UPPER SCHOOL SCIENCE TEACHER (BIOLOGY/CHEMISTRY)

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Upper School Science Biology/Chemistry Teacher.     PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    Teaching: 

    • 4 sections, to include 9th grade Biology and 10th grade Chemistry
    • Eagerness to work with students on an individual basis, as need be
    • Commitment to innovative instructional and assessment practices
    • Ability to keep accurate grades, effectively and supportively communicate with students and families, and provide written and oral feedback on student progress consistently throughout the school year

     

    Additional Responsibilities: 

    • Advise a club or activity
    • Demonstrate energetic commitment to professional development, including collaborative work for planning and alignment
    • Attend and contribute to meetings during and after the school day, including but not limited to departmental, committee, divisional and grade-level meetings
    • Attend community events throughout the school year

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related discipline is required
    • Master’s degree preferred

     

    Experience:

    • 3 years of teaching experience in high school science is preferred
    • Working knowledge of Next Generation Science Standards and current pedagogical trends in science education
    • Experience in teaching science via inquiry-based approaches

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Upper School English Teacher Leave Replacement from September to December 2020. The ideal candidate will possess both excellent professional qualifications and a passion for teaching and learning. Other essential qualities include enthusiasm for working with students, families, and colleagues, and a sense of humor. We seek an individual who is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion, and whose personal integrity and collegiality will enrich a high-achieving, collaborative environment. Given the timing and remarkable circumstances we find ourselves in, a strong candidate must also be flexible and adept with the skills and technology of online learning.

     

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Teaching four sections of Upper School English
    • Maintaining an accurate electronic gradebook
    • Effectively and supportively communicating with students and families
    • Providing written and oral feedback on student progress consistently throughout the school year

     

    Additional Responsibilities: 

    • Attending and contributing to meetings during and after the school day, including but not limited to, departmental, committee, divisional and grade-level meetings
    • Accompanying students on occasional curricular trips
    • Attending community events throughout the school year

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

     

    Education:  Bachelor’s degree in English, education, or a related field or related disciplines required. Graduate degree preferred.

    Experience: Full-time teaching experience in English.

    Specific Skills:  The position requires familiarity with online learning platforms, including

    Google Suite and Zoom

    Certifications/Licenses:  None, but standard teaching certification preferred.
