  • DIRECTOR OF DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION

    Poly Prep, one of the most diverse independent schools in New York State, seeks applicants for the position of Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Our K-12 school, located on two campuses, cherishes the multifaceted diversity of our community as an essential component of our students’ education. This position, central to our mission and core values, calls for an individual whose vision, commitment, and interpersonal skills will contribute to robust programming and policies to ensure an equitable and inclusive environment for students, employees, and families. 


    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    Responsibilities: 

    • Creates, fosters, leads, and advocates for the school’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice programs and policies.
    • Collaborates with students, employees, parents, Board of Trustees, and alumni to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion through appropriate programs, meetings, committees, and other outreach.
    • Fosters cultural competence and social justice by working with department chairs to promote inclusive curricula.
    • Empowers students to act as agents of progressive change.
    • Oversees and coordinates professional development for employees as it relates to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice, and maintains a resource website to support their work.
    • Organizes and facilitates the work of diversity coordinators in all three divisions.
    • Serves as voice in discipline by working with the division heads and deans.
    • Promotes equity in hiring and admissions.
    • Promotes the work of the school’s Institute for Ethics and Leadership in collaboration with the Director of Service Learning and Director of Sustainability.


    Additional Responsibilities: 

    • Designs and organizes annual Community and Diversity Day programming.
    • Coordinates student, adult, and family affinity and alliance groups.
    • Supports and/or co-leads SEED seminars (training/willingness to train in National SEED Project’s New Leaders Week highly desired).
    • Attends and contributes to meetings during and after the school day, including but not limited to: department, committee, division, policy, counseling, and grade-level meetings.
    • Contributes to school events such as open houses, parent/curriculum events, Board of Trustee and Alumni Board of Governors meetings.
    • Organizes student and employee attendance at yearly NAIS PoCC/SDLC Conference.
    • Participates in school events such as attendance at homecoming, alumni events, and other significant dates throughout the school year.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Head of School and the Assistant Head of School, Academics.

    Education:  Master’s degree required.

  • TEMPORARY PAYROLL ASSOCIATE

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Temporary Payroll Associate.  The position will replace an employee on leave for a period of 3+ months.

     

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Payroll entry and processing of both weekly payroll and semi monthly payroll
    • Monitoring of tax filings performed by ADP
    • Responsible for setting up benefit and tax deductions in ADP system
    • Compile monthly reports allocating employee salaries and benefits to each department for posting to G/L.
    • Calculate, prepare & review documents for enrollees in the TIAA pension plan.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

    Experience:  5-7  years of experience in payroll including processing, data entry, and benefit management within the ADP payroll system.

    Specific Skills:  Must be proficient in using the ADP Workforce payroll software. Intermediate to advanced skills preferred.  Computer skills (MS Office), verbal & written communication skills.

  • ANNUAL GIVING PARENT LIAISON

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Annual Giving Parent Liaison.

    The Annual Giving Parent Liaison is responsible for cultivating and supporting the management of a robust parent volunteer base to support Poly Prep’s growing Annual Giving Program. The Annual Giving Parent Liaison will assist the Director of Annual Giving and the Manager of Annual Giving in achieving specific fundraising and engagement goals in parent leadership giving, increasing parent participation, and supporting all programs/events associated with the stewardship and cultivation of Poly Prep’s parent donor base. A love of interacting with all manners of a school community, patience, warmth and professional nature are vital to the success of this position.   This is a part time position.  

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Assists in the cultivation and recruitment of a robust Parent Volunteer group through outreach to current and past Poly parents via PA events, school events and functions, phone outreach etc.
    • Serves as a resource to Parent Volunteers and those interested in supporting the work of the Advancement Office
    • Supports Annual Giving efforts in tandem with the Director and Manager of Annual Giving within the Advancement Office
    • Assists with phone-a-thons, annual-giving events, etc. where the Parent Volunteer Group is activated

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:  Bachelor’s Degree required

    Experience:  3 years of experience in a related role or field

    Specific Skills: Clear and effective communication skills, a passion for building strong relationships with families, exceptional writing skills, enthusiasm, high emotional intelligence, ability to understand a respect for privacy with an emphasis on high touches with constituents.

Faculty Employment
  • LOWER SCHOOL MATH SPECIALIST – LEAVE REPLACEMENT

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Lower School Math Specialist – Leave Replacement for October to January to provide virtual math instruction to students in Kindergarten through Grade 4. This is a remote teaching position. The successful candidate will possess excellent content knowledge; expertise in intervention and enrichment strategies for mathematics; a passion for teaching and learning; creativity and a thirst for innovation; enthusiasm for working with students, families, and colleagues; a growth mindset; and a sense of humor.

    She or he will be able to inspire and empower students to learn; collaborate and engage in daily conversation and experiences with students and colleagues; write well; and commit to ongoing professional development and lifelong learning.

     

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Teach students in daily virtual K-4 to establish foundational math skills and extend learning in small groups, large groups, and/or 1:1 formats as appropriate.
    • Assess student progress and write narrative progress reports.
    • Maintain strong communication with families, homeroom teachers, administration, Learning Department colleagues, through written notes, documentation, and emails; calls; and in-person discussions.
    • Collaborate with Learning Department colleagues to provide guidance about outside resources and advise in curriculum and instruction development.
    • Actively participate in a positive school culture through shared duties and faculty meeting discussions.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education: Master’s Degree in Mathematics, Curriculum and Instruction, Special Education or another related field.

    Experience: 5 years teaching elementary learners with diverse needs. Experience with Math in Focus and/or Singapore Math programs strongly preferred.

     

    Specific Skills: Training in workshop models for instruction in mathematics; in-depth knowledge of mathematics curricula; demonstrated experience in differentiation, enrichment, and intervention strategies; facility with a variety of common academic assessments; facility with various platforms and programs for virtual instruction such as Google Meets, Classroom, Seesaw, etc.

    • Read and interpret the results of neuropsychological evaluations; synthesize information and provide a summary for faculty and administration; make recommendations about classroom modifications and testing accommodations.
    • Serve as a resource to faculty by providing coaching, consultations, training, or in-service sessions to help meet the needs of students who learn differently.

  • FACULTY SUBSTITUTE TEACHER: MIDDLE AND UPPER SCHOOLS

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Faculty Substitute Teacher for our Middle and Upper School outdoor learning model, scheduled to run from September through November, 2020. The Faculty Substitute will be hired on a daily basis as need be to help to maintain an organized, efficient, and productive work environment for our students in the absence of their regular teacher(s). We seek candidates who are eager to engage students with patience, enthusiasm, and a sense of humor.

     

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    Teaching: 

    • Support the academic program by covering classes in a teacher’s absence.
    • Supervise study hall periods.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Heads of Middle and Upper School and the Assistant Head of School for Academics.

    Additional Responsibilities: 

    • Help students transition and move from one activity to another.
    • Supervise lunch distribution as need be.

  • UPPER SCHOOL MATHEMATICS TEACHER

    Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Upper School Mathematics Teacher. This position requires knowledge of and practice in constructivist teaching methods, varied assessment methods and tools, and student-centered, interdisciplinary pedagogy. Qualified applicants will have experience teaching at the upper school level, differentiating instruction for a wide range of learners, coaching math teams, and incorporating technology in the classroom. The ideal candidate will exhibit a passion for teaching mathematics; a love for learning and working with students, families, and colleagues; professionalism; and a sense of humor.

     

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    Teaching: 

    • Teach 4 sections of Upper School mathematics
    • Work with students on an individual basis, as need be
    • Keep accurate grades, effectively and supportively communicate with students and families, and provide written and oral feedback on student progress consistently throughout the school year

    Additional Responsibilities: 

    • Advise a club or activity and supervise periodic study hall
    • Demonstrate energetic commitment to professional development
    • Attend and contribute to meetings during and after the school day, including but not limited to departmental, committee, divisional and grade-level meetings
    • Accompany students on occasional curricular trips
    • Attend community events throughout the school year

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:  Bachelors degree in mathematics or related disciplines required.  Master’s degree in mathematics preferred.

    Experience:  3 years of related teaching experience in upper school mathematics
