Curricular Travel

WELCOME! Considering Poly For Your Family?

Poly provides students myriad ways of learning that extend beyond the classroom.

All Middle Schoolers enjoy curricular excursions within New York City and the tri-state area that enhance learning, like hands-on STEM work with the Billion Oyster Project, touring collections and special exhibits at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Natural History, and Brooklyn Museum, observing assemblies at the United Nations, learning stunt moves from the high-energy team at STREB Extreme Action, and more.

In Grades 7 and 8, Poly’s faculty crafts optional, multi-day trips that are designed to enhance the curriculum for students in a real-world experience. Students can hone their world language skills, get a front row seat to places they’ve read about in history or English classes, experience diverse cultures firsthand, and develop a broader perspective on global issues.

Middle School Multi-day Curricular Travel Paths in 2025-2026 include:
Chicago

Chicago, Illinois (Grade 7)
Our Grade 7 Chicago trip offers students a vibrant, five-day exploration of the Windy City’s scientific and cultural landscape. Students dive into hands-on experiences at the renowned Museum of Science and Industry, engage with literary arts through workshops at the Poetry Foundation, and discover the city’s diverse neighborhoods. This immersive journey allows our young learners to witness firsthand how urban environments foster innovation and creativity. From admiring architectural marvels to uncovering the city’s rich history, the trip provides a unique opportunity for students to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences, deepening their understanding of science, art, and cultural diversity in one of America’s most dynamic cities.

London

London, England (Grade 8)
Our Grade 8 London trip immerses students in the city’s rich literary and theatrical heritage. This five-day adventure takes students on a journey through 400 years of artistic history. They’ll participate in a workshop at Shakespeare’s Globe, explore the diverse literary landscape of the East End, and examine the impact of British imperialism on contemporary writing. Culminating with a modern West End theater production, students get an up close look at London’s vibrant performing arts scene. From Shakespeare to immigrant storytellers, this experience brings literature to life, highlighting the evolving role of the written and spoken word in shaping culture and society. It’s an unforgettable opportunity for young minds to connect their studies with the living, breathing world of British arts and letters.
