Academic Awards 2025
Every year, students are honored with academic awards based on selections made by our academic departments. These awards celebrate the exceptional qualities and achievements demonstrated within each discipline. We take great pride in all our students and are pleased to acknowledge the individuals listed below for their outstanding work.

The Computer and Information Science Award is given to a student whose curiosity and learning often exceed that of our course offerings.

New England Society Book Award
The New England Society Book Award is presented to a Grade 12 student who has shown excellence in the study of history.

Presented to a Grade 11 student for excellence in the study of United States history.

Senior Math Prize
Awarded to a student who has shown outstanding mathematical understanding.

Science
The Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award
This award is offered by the University of Rochester and presented to an outstanding science student in Grade 11.

The Sandra Stone Award
Presented to a Grade 12 student for excellence and service in science throughout their time at Poly Prep.
Lucia Lavagnino-Sisk ’25
The Rensselaer Medal
This award from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) is presented to the Grade 11 student who has demonstrated excellence in science and math.

Named for a former faculty member for excellence in Latin studies; awarded to students in Grades 11 and 12.

Russell Trauerts Memorial Award – Grade 9
First presented in 1955 by Poly Prep’s Class of 1957; rededicated in 2007 in memory of classmates overtaken by events bigger than we were; and awarded to the Grade 9 student who during the year, has grown most significantly in terms of character, intellect and personality.
