Josie Paul became a Grade 1 Head Teacher in 2021. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Josie’s passion for teaching sparked during her time as a graduate student at Bank Street College of Education where she learned the whole-child approach to teaching that nurtures all areas of a child’s learning and development. During her time at Bank Street, she had the opportunity to put theory into practice while student teaching for a few months in Grade 2 at Poly Prep. After graduating with her Master’s in Early Childhood and Childhood Development, she taught First Grade for two years at The Brearley School, then Second and First Grade for three years at The Packer Collegiate Institute. She enjoys collaborating with colleagues on academic units and extracurricular activities centered around social-emotional learning, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
