Marissa Pennington joined Poly Prep as the Lower School Math Specialist in 2021. Through the course of her career, she has accrued over 20 years of teaching experience, spanning three states and five grade levels. At her first stop in Denver, she taught fifth and sixth grades at a magnet school. In Los Angeles, she worked in a multi-age classroom at the Mirman School for the Gifted. Returning to NYC, she taught at Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School, Speyer Legacy School, and the Heschel School. She holds a Master of Science in Teaching degree from Fordham University and is currently pursuing a second master’s degree at Hunter College with a specialization in Elementary Mathematics. Outside of school, she enjoys biking, writing, and spending time with her family.
