Marya Ruiz joined the Poly Prep Lower School as a Kindergarten Head Teacher in 2023. She grew up in the Bay Area and earned her B.A. in Sociology and M.A. in Teaching from the University of San Francisco. However, Marya’s journey to becoming a teacher began long before college. From the age of 11 to 18, she worked at her mother’s in-home Montessori Preschool and Daycare every day after school, cultivating her passion for teaching and learning. Before joining Poly, Marya taught at Convent of the Sacred Heart for three years and Léman Manhattan Preparatory School for nine years. In addition to teaching, she loves to travel, listen to music, practice photography, and spend time with her family and her adorable chihuahua mix Ziggy.
