Krystal F. ’32 defines character and upholds Poly Prep core values and thus stands out as a leader in her classroom.
A bright, curious student, Krystal arrives at school each morning with a smile on her face, ready to learn. These attributes also revealed themselves as a passion for social and environmental justice, exhibited in particular this year in Science class as a Sustainability Ambassador. Krystal was on the “Rot and Replant Squad;” she conducted research and applied new science knowledge to establish a vermicomposter and maintain it properly. Krsytal wrote a self-reflection: “The most interesting thing that I learned during our sustainability unit is how fungi is a whole different type of thing because it is not an animal or a plant. Another interesting thing I learned about fungi is they help break down and eat dead animals.” She continued by saying she wanted to learn more about fungi. Krystal’s engagement and insights regularly inspire her classmates and elevate the level of classroom discussions.
