Chris Davenport ’91

  • Colby College (BA)

Chris Davenport ’91 has been a reporter for The Washington Post since 2000 and covers the defense and space industries for the Post’s financial desk. In 2018, Chris’ book, The Space Barons: Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and the Quest to Colonize the Cosmos, was published. At Poly, where Chris wrote for The Polygon, he spent “some late afternoons putting the paper to bed.” His first Polygon story was about the JV football team, of which he was a member. “Poly taught me critical thinking and discipline, how to balance a heavy workload with extra-curricular activities,” Chris recalled. “I learned to love to read at Poly; I remember the headmaster’s advice to always bring a book with you wherever you go. To this day, it’s advice I follow.”
